Good morning Lewisburg.

I didn’t go to church Sunday morning or evening. I was sick as a dog. I have been to my doc and got lots of pills. I guess it will just take time. I barked for three nights.

July has come and gone so quickly. It’s now August and school time again. It’s still hot.

There are a lot of birthdays in August. Happy birthday to:

James Eric Rager, 7th

Dona Hildabrand, 9th

Danny Rager, 18th

Rickey Rager, 18th

Mary Timberlake, 29th

Hump Day

Welcome to Logan County Vanessa Kramer from Ohio to Beechland to be closer to her family.

Tulip Green from Lake Malone, I like your writing. Seems like we look at life the same. Keep up the good writing. I don’t get to go to the lake, I’m glad you bring it to me.

God’s house is a place to respect the Lord at all times. Let us worship in the house of the Lord. (Now.)

Let me ask a question? Sund is the Lord’s Day. And you suppose to dress appropriate and most do look good on Sunday morning. Now, Sunday night it is still the Lord’s House, so we dress a little different at the night service. (Fine.) Then comes Wednesday night. It’s still the Lord’s House, dressing becomes a little more casual. Some show a little more skin. Respect the House of the Lord. Sunday, Wednesday - it’s still the House of the Lord, dress accordingly. (Amen.)

I see life as, each one of us is like a nail and the hammer is the power of God. Sometimes it bends you, use the claw of the hammer to pull it out. The hands of our Lord lay it on a good solid surface and begin to hammer gently and get the bend out and start again. You just need to move it over a little and start hammering it gently and keep it straight on a better start. Our Lord Jesus Christ. (Amen.)

I haven’t been out since Monday when I went to the doc. Sure makes a person to stop and think about life.

Down Memory Lane

My sister Dona and I are closer in age than the other sisters. We were the last two little girls.

We did everything together. She would stand at the counter and was dishes in a dishpan and I would rinse and dry the dishes. We would sing as we did the dishes. Drunken Driver, a song with 14 verses. We would have to sing for company on Sunday evening with no music. We enjoyed them clapping for us. Then would would run off to the woods to play.

Lots of water has run under the bridge since then. Some have washed plum away.

Pay Day

But not for all. Some folks don’t have a job and can’t find one. Lord, look down on us poor folks.

What a wonderful rain we had last night. I went to sleep with the sound of rain on the roof.

I’ve been sick for a week, but I feel a little better each day. I haven’t been outside. I pray I will soon get back to being myself. The meds make me feel bad.

This is No. 52 weeks I have been writing for the News-Democrat & Leader. hope all have enjoyed the column so far.

Tip of the week

When making chicken and dumplings, the chicken you remove from the bone, flour the chicken before placing it in your broth after the dumplings are cooked. Give you thick juice. Serve with cornbread.

We sure had a nice rain this Saturday evening. Rain is a comfortable feeling that all is in God’s hands.

Go to church and worship the Lord.

God bless you all, thanks for reading.
