Crossroads Church in Russellville is starting up a new program for anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one.

If you or someone you know is having trouble dealing with a death - then GriefShare can probably help, said Glenys Buchner - one of the program coordinators.

“My husband and I lost our son and his girlfriend in a car wreak when he was just 18 years old,” Buchner said. “We understand what it is like to deal with grief and we want to offer this program to the community, because we know it can bring some healing.”

A new class is just getting under way and Buchner wants everyone to know about it.

This will be the third time Crossroads Church has offered the 13-week class.

“It’s been very helpful tot he few that have come,” Buchner said. “We would like to have more people come and be a part of it because it can really help.”

The class is biblically based and some of the topics that will be covered include “When Your Dreams Fall Apart,” “The Seasons of Grief,” “The Emotions of Grief,” “Where is God?” and “God’s Spiritual Hospital,” among others.

Each session has a video that goes along with it and it touches on different aspects of grief.

“Sometimes you feel like you’re losing your mind, and then you realize that this is normal,” Buchner said. “One of the videos talks about making big decisions. People sometimes will feel the need to make some kind of big decisions right after losing someone and the class encourages you not to do that without thinking it completely through.”

There is no charge for the class.

There is a workbook that everyone will get and it will be provided free of charge.

“It’s worked out really now because the materials have been donated by the class that we had before each time we’ve done it,” Buchner said.

The classes will begin at 5:30 p.m. each Monday night at Crossroads.

At the same time, there is also a Celebrate Recovery support group for individuals dealing with the recovery from drug, alcohol abuse or any other kind of abuse.

“We’ll start off with having a snack or light meal and then each group just goes off to its own seperate classroom,” Buchner said.
