For the third year in a row, Coty Coles, a student at Logan County High School and the son of Mark and Stacy Coles of Russellville, has earned a spot on the Kentucky High School Rodeo Team.
He will be travelling with his teammates to Rock Springs, Wyoming, this month to compete in the 64th annual National High School Finals Rodeo.
Coles will compete in the team roping, steer wrestling and NRP trap shooting competitions.
The event will feature over 1,500 competitors from 41 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia. The National High School Finals is the world’s largest rodeo.
In addition to competing for prizes, NHSFR contestants will also be competing for college scholarship money and the chance to be named the national high school rodeo champions. While on the road heading out west, Coty will also make a stop in Shawnee, Okla., to compete in the International Finals Youth Rodeo.
Rodeo is a sport in which Coles is a true supporter. This year, with grit and determination, he won the title of All-Around Cowboy for the state of Kentucky.
He competes in three events - team roping, steer wrestling and calf roping.
This year, Coles finished first in team roping, second in steer wrestling and sixth in calf roping.
Coles has made a lot of friends through his rodeo adventures and the support of his family, friends and local sponsors help keep him focused.
He would like to thank everyone for the calls of encouragement he receives as he competes in all the rodeos.
