Raymond Van Zee, a 2011 graduate of Russellville High School, has been selected to receive a full scholarship from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to pursue a degree in civil engineering at Western Kentucky University.

The scholarship, which was established in 1948, has been awarded to more than 1,500 exceptional students from around the state. Currently, the scholarship is worth $44,000 for a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Students are offered the opportunity to work for the Cabinet during summer months as well as full-time employment upon graduation. Students are chosen based on performance in high school, ACT scores, aptitude in math and science and an interest in engineering as a career.
