Some of the hearty flowers on Carrico Square were glad for the inch of rain that fell Sunday night. So was just about everyone else in the community.
Russellville finally got some much-needed rain on Sunday night.
According to the Kentucky Mesonet station in the Baker Natural Area, a full inch (1.02 to be precise) of rain fell on Sunday.
That was the first significant rainfall reported since June 11 - nearly a full month earlier - when 0.70 of an inch was reported.
In the days between, less than 0.20 total inches of rainfall fell.
It was also the most rain in a single day since May 13 when Russellville got 1.36 inches of precipitation.
Despite the rain, all of Logan County - including Russellville - remains under a burn ban.
