The tennis season is quickly coming to a close. With the spring season starting a few weeks than it has in the past years the Region 4 tennis tournament is being held on May 5th.
But before the region tournament starts, both Russellville and Logan County have a few more meets to get tuned up before next weekend. Over the weekend the Logan County and Russellville teams combined facilities to host Barren County and Glasgow tennis teams.
The individual results from the Logan County vs Glasgow meets were; Evan Harris taking down Price Bell 7-6 (7-3), 6-3; Dalton Gunderson over Robbie Garlin 8-1; Caleb Dawson over Cody Jones 8-3; Jordan Imlay over Ashab Almed 9-7 in the singles match ups. The doubles scores were; Harris and Gunderson combining to take down Bell and Gatlin 8-6; Dawson and Imlay took down Jones and Almed 8-4 completing the sweep over Glasgow over the weekend.
Across town, Russellville took on Barren County with individual results being; Will Oakley falling to Colin Sparks 0-8; Cameron Tisdale taking down Jonathon Adams 8-6; Chriss Collier lost to Matthew Burnell 0-8; Travis McDaniel falling to Grant Garder 2-8; Jeffrey Fox falling to Jonathan Bunrell 0-8; Jason Fox falls to Halpel Rickard 1-8. The doubles scores were; Oakley and Tisdale falling to Burnell and Gardner 1-8; Collier and McDaniel losing to Burrell and Rickard 4-8; Eli Higgabothan and Kyle Harris combined to beat Adams and Brandon Whitty 8-3.

The Logan County and Russellville tennis teams will have a few more matches before this Saturday’s region tournament. On Tuesday they will meet on Russellville’s court to settle the ‘Clash of the Cats’ between the two teams. Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the two teams as they make the stretch run to the region tournament as well as the state tournament.
