Hello from famous Adairville, Kentucky. A town full of history, beautiful homes and when the weather is good - beautiful flower gardens. There are lovely churches still offering salvation, friendship and an understanding to our lives. Our school is one of the best in the state. Our famous Cook's Cave, sometimes called Savage Cave, is one of the most historic in the nation. Adairville offers a great place to call home. Have you visited our Adairville Library lately. You should and take a friend with you. I like to check out the movies and the audio tapes to play as I ride down the highways. We have a new librarian. Her name is Sharon Fuller. From time to time there is some beautiful art work on exhibit. The artist is Guy Mohead a rather colorful and distinguished gentleman who adopted South Logan County as his home several years ago. Did you know that Logan County use to be one of if not the largest counties in the state? It ran from the Mississippi River in the west to the North Carolina line in the east. Some 28 counties were created out of Logan County starting in 1796 and running until 1865. It can be very confusing to people searching for the burial site or cemetery of an ancestor buried back 150 years ago or more. Even though old records may say they were buried in Logan County, they may actually be buried in a county far away in what is now another county. The Adairville Senior Citizens awaits all who are 55 years old and older. Just across the street from the Adairville School. Call or just come by and see what the center has to offer. If they know you are coming you might just get a nice lunch to boot! They offer many interesting and educational programs that might be of interest to you. Just call "Ms. Dolly" at 539-6051. Correction from last week. Famed humorist Will Rogers and pilot Wiley Post were killed in a famous plane crash in Alaska in 1935. Will Rogers, one of my all time favorite humorists, wrote, spoke all over the country, made early comedy movies and was befriended by people from all over the world. It is my understanding that when he made movies they were always a sell out at the old movie theater in Adairville. One of his sayings that I really like is, "Never squat with your spurs on." Another is "The Income Tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has." The other saying is, "Congress is so strange. A man gets up to speak and says nothing. Nobody listens. Then everybody disagrees." Time to go. Good night "Sweet Bertie Angel", Virginia Lloyd, Alberta Sanders, sisters Mrs Hall and Mrs. Steenbergen, Carol McKinney, T.G. Pitts, the prettiest woman on the west side of the Adairville Square and Mrs. Callabash where ever you are.
