Operation Christmas Child

Dripping Spring Baptist Church in Olmstead will be a drop off location for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry November 14-20th. You can drop off the completed shoeboxes from 3-6 p.m. each day.

Annual Lions Club Pecan Sale

Ready for the holidays, the Russellville Lions Club is selling pecans as they have in years past to raise funds to help with local and worldwide persons with vision difficulties. Pecans (halves or pieces) are selling for $8.50 per bag. The Lions will deliver six bags or more anywhere in the city of Russellville. Call 836-6490 for delivery.

Tourist Commission Meeting

The Logan County Tourist & Convention Commission will hold it regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m. Any interested parties are welcome to attend.

Wissmann Family Concert

First Baptist Church, along with Fellowship Church of Christ, will be sponsoring the Wissmann Family in concert today at 6:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, 277 S. Main Street, Russellville. The Wissmann Family consists of parents and 13 of their children who play 15 musical instruments.

Auburn SBDM meeting

The Auburn School site-based decision-making council will meet today at 5:15 p.m. at the school. The public is welcome to attend.

Olmstead SBDM meeting

The Olmstead School site-based decision-making council will meet today at 4 p.m. in the school conference room.

Lewisburg Parade Meeting

There will be a Lewisburg Parade of Lights float meeting at the Lewisburg City Complex at 6 p.m. If you are interested in having a float in the parade this year please come to this meeting. There will be a demonstration on how to light your float. Prizes this year will include $100 each to the winning Non-Profit and Church floats, $100 advertising space to the winning Business Float on the Parade of Lights brochure and $50 to the will Individual Vehicle! The rules for your float and entry forms can be picked up at the meeting. This is a very important meeting. There will be light refreshments served.

Grandparents support group

The Stevenson Elementary School Family Resource Center will host its Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group today at 5:30 p.m. in the Stevenson Library. The guest speaker will be a representative from Coventry Cares. For more information, contact Debbie Elliott at 726-4798.

Farmers Appreciation Day

The Logan County Conservation Districts are celebrating 70 years in Conservation with the USDA, NRCS and FSA by hosting a Farmers Appreciation Day with refreshments, brochures and door prizes beginning at 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17th at the USDA Offices located on the Hopkinsville Road. We are also saying farewell to Dale Goad, FSA Ag Credit Manager who is retiring. So please come by for a bite of lunch and a chance to help us celebrate 70 years in conservation and farewell to a special person.

Fall Harvest of Goodies

First Christian Church, 201 W. 7th Street, will have a Fall Festival today. The bake sale starts at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will consist of chili, soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks for a donation of $7. There will also be several raffles.

Lewisburg Rook Tournament

The Lewisburg Lions Club will be having its monthly Rook tournament today at 6 p.m. in the Lewisburg City Complex. Soup and chili will be served, just bring a side dish or dessert. Everyone is welcome, from beginners to experienced players. For more information, call Tony Ashby at 847-9085.

Schochoh Pancake Breakfast

On Saturday, Nov. 19 from 6 until 10 a.m. Schochoh Community Development will be hosting its annual Toys for Tots Pancake Breakfast. Tickets are $5 and an unwrapped toy. Sunday School Institute

First Baptist Church, 5th and Spring streets, where Rev. Sammy Lee Spencer is pastor, will hold a Sunday School Institute today at 10 a.m.

Learn to quilt

There will be a “Learn to Quilt” class today from noon to 4 p.m. at Bank Street A.M.E. Zion Church, 564 E. 5th Street. A member of the Emanuel Family Life Center Quilt Guild will share their skills and talents. This is free and open to the public. For more information, call 893-9614.

Ducks Unlimited banquet & auction

The Logan Todd Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be holding their annual Banquet & Auction today. It will be held at the Logan County Ag Extension Building , 255 John Paul Rd, 68-80 Bypass , Russellville, Ky. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner at 6:30 & Live Auction at 7. There will also be a silent auction. There will be auctions, raffles & games for all type outdoor merchandise including guns, knives, prints, home decor items and other fun stuff. Christmas in November Crafts Show

The 11th annual “Christmas in November” Craft Show sponsored by Logan County Arts and Crafts will be held today and Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Russellville Parks and Recreation Building on South Winter Street. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and door prizes will be given.

Fish Fry

Bank Street A.M.E. Zion Church, 564 E. 5th Street, will be having a fish fry today beginning at 11 a.m. Sandwiches and dinners are available.

Benefit singing

There will be a benefit singing for Alan Dulworth today at the old Logan County courthouse at 6 p.m. Alan suffered a sever head injury earlier this year. Featured singers include: Bucky Thomas, Ronnie Proctor, Dusty Thomas, Larry Houchin, Travis Bryan, Tim Harris Bonnie Pow, Phyllis Camp, Mark Brown, The Kirkmans, Adrian Lee, Betty Hutchison and the Brumfield Family Tradition.

Country ham & egg breakfast

There will be a country ham & egg breakfast today at the Lewisburg Masonic Lodge from 6-11 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Rodney Woods’ medical expenses.

Relay for Life Kick-off

The 2012 Relay For Life Kick-off event will be today from 1-3 p.m. at the Logan County Chamber of Commerce porch. There will be free registration for the June 4, 2012 Relay for Life. Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.

Bazaar to benefit Adult Education

Logan County Adult Education will be participating in the Russellville Holiday Open House on the Square, today from, 2-4 p.m. Jewelry, holiday decorations, Adult Education Cookbook favorites and many more items will be for sale. Register for special door prizes. All proceeds to benefit Adult Education services in Logan County.

Bank Street A.M.E. Zion Church will be having Men’s Sunday today at 11 a.m. The guests will be Rev. Steve Walker of Broadway Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. Everyone is invited to attend.

Lewisburg Live Nativity

There will be a live nativity scene beginning today and running through Saturday, Dec. 3 from 5-8 p.m. nightly. It will feature live animals (including a camel) and people in biblical costume. It will be located on 431 between Saye’s Southern Service and the Lewisburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Auburn Historical Society Homes Tour

The Auburn Historical Society will be hosting their annual Homes Tour Friday, Dec. 2 beginning at 2 p.m. through 5 p.m. All those who wish to attend the tour will meet at the Auburn Museum at 2 p.m. to purchase their tickets for $10. The tour will begin at the museum and feature the old school house, barn and cabin. Then participants will tour the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Any Britt and Mr. and Mrs. Lee and Jill Blythe. All proceeds will go to the Auburn Historical Society.
