Editor's Note

This is the first of two Meet the Candidates pages that will give voters more information about those who are running for city government positions. Questionnaires were made available at each city hall and at the News-Democrat & Leader office. Only those candidates that returned the questionnaire will appear in the newspaper. In Friday's edition, candidates for the Russellville and Auburn city governments will appear.

James “Jim” Wilkerson is running for another term as the mayor of Adairville.

He moved to Adairville in 1964 with his wife Annette and two small children and has lived there for the past 44 years.

Wilkerson's children are now grown and married and have given him six grandchildren.

Wilkerson graduated from high school in Crockett County, Tenn., in 1953.

He worked for Tennessee Country Pride Sausage Co. and came to Adairville to open the company's new plant there in 1964.

He retired from the company in 1993 and became involved in farming.

Wilkerson is active in many groups including being a member of the South Logan Chamber of Commerce, Red River Habitat and Adairville Baptist Church. He also serves as a board member for Belmont University, LEAD, IDA, Logan Todd Rural Water Commission and BRADD.
