Logan County Jailer Bill Jenkins has agreed to take back the responsibility of running the county's Recycling program.

Solid Waste Coordinator Debbie Nelson handed in her resignation recently, making way for the change.

Jenkins used to run the center before Nelson was hired three years ago. She resigned her position as Solid Waste Coordinator last week.

Nelson had been responsible for recycling, litter abatement, cleaning up illegal dumps in the county and educating the public on the importance of keeping the community clean.

Jenkins said he didn't mind taking it back over saying he had done it before.

The recycling center utilizes inmate labor to break down the county's recyclables such as card board, glass, plastic, paper, etc.

Nelson gave the court a brief description Tuesday of what she does concerning solid waste. She said there were several grants and reports that need to be written and submitted throughout the year as well as keeping in touch with the community on illegal dumping activity and education.
