The mayors of Adairville and Auburn will both be seeking reelection in November, but they will each have an opposing candidate on the ticket.

The deadline for filing to run for office in all of Logan County's city governments - with the exception of Russellville - was Tuesday.

In Adairville, mayor Jim Wilkerson will be challenged by Donna Blake, who currently serves on the city council. In auburn, Dewey Roche will be seeking another four-year term while Maxie Rittenberry will be looking to unseat him.

There will no mayoral election in Lewisburg this year. Current mayor Ken Whitson still has two years left on his current term.

However, there will be city council elections in all three of Logan County's smaller cities.

Since Blake is seeking the position of mayor, she will not be on the new Adairville city council. However, the other five current council members - Danny Finch, Tracy Gunderson, Nannette King, Marla Sircy and Judy Tanner - are all seeking reelection. Those seeking a new seat on the council in the upcoming election include Patty Ann Costello, Mike Fowler and James “Tony” Nichols. The top six vote getters in the Nov. 4 election will be on the new city council.

In Auburn, all six councilmen are seeking reelection - Rex Evans, Gayle Gregory, Michael Hughes, Ron McGee, Craig Offutt and Wayne Thomas. They will be challenged by Jimmy Cornelius and Steve Montgomery.

Only six people filed to run for the Lewisburg city council. They are Sharon Bender, Tina Callahan Dye, Craig Green, Jeff Laster, Melanie Palmgren and Donnie Smith.

Other filings included the Logan County School Board - Billy Hall (Chandlers,) Ralph Cropper (Lewisburg) and Johnny Dawson (Olmstead); Russellville Independent School Board - Davonna Page and Phillip E. West - and the Logan County Soil Conservation Board - William S. Johnson, Eddy Russell and Don Wright.
