Kenady serves on a three member committee alongside fellow magistrate Curtis Watkins and Logan County Judge/Executive Logan Chick.
The committee was organized soon after the county received a letter from the Commonwealth Health Corporation (CHC) giving notice of its departure next year. CHC has been serving as Logan County's ambulance service for the past 10 years.
Kenady said the committee has talked with several potential services and have met with one particular three times. He said he feels the talks are going well and is very encouraged at what the committee has found so far.
“We are proceeding aggressively to get a top-notch service into Logan County,” said Kenady.
Magistrate Curtis Watkins agreed with Kenady saying the search has been real positive.
CHC representatives said they were pulling out of Logan County because they didn't feel they had support from fiscal court. Magistrates have not understood CHC's reasoning saying they feel they have supported them all along.
“If we didn't support them why would we have agreed to pay the $260,000 subsidy CHC required of us to keep them this fiscal year?” questioned Magistrates.
The court has until July to find a replacement service.
