Magistrates said the system needed to be repaired or replaced but wanted to wait on spending any large amounts of money until they new more about what needed to be done.
According to Judge/Executive Logan Chick, Evans Equipment, the company who has maintained the system for years, said cost could start as little as $600 or as much as $6,000. It all depended how bad it was when they got in there.
The courthouse committee, made up of magistrates Curtis Watkins, Loyd Houchens and Kerry Kenady along with County Attorney Tom Noe, are looking into what to do about the system.
Magistrate Thomas Bouldin made a motion to allow Evans Equipment to come in and repair the old system not to exceed $3,000. His motion was passed unanimously.
Kenady said he thought it was a good idea just to patch it now and have the system evaluated.
The system is old and has several feet of rusted piping. Magistrates felt someone needed to come in and give a quote on how much a new system would cost verses continuing to repair the old one.
