Dear Editor: City should spend their money more wisely

I would like to respond to the article, “City Passes $6.59 Million Budget.”

Finances are tight for everyone, and there seems to be no end. We are all trying to economize.

Just suppose that I kept on spending like last year when I know every item I buy is higher. When tax time comes, as always at year's end, I don't really think the Sheriff's Office would understand if I said that since things were so tough I didn't have the money to pay.

I have planned my budget, and I have reduced unnecessary spending. I am able to pay my debts, as there is no one else to “bail me out.”

If I can do this, why can't the city council?
