There were five citizens from Lewisburg who made the journey to Frankfort. The mayor of Lewisburg, Kenneth Whitson, nominated the volunteers from the North Logan Historical Commission responsible for opening and maintaining Lewisburg's Books To Go Library in the category of volunteerism by a non-profit group. They won the award in this category.
Those receiving the award presented by First Lady Jane Beshear were President Melanie Henderson, Vice President Maxine Hinton and Mayor Kenneth Whitson.
The library has grown by leaps and bounds since the grand opening in November. With money from donations and fundraisers the library is now able to purchase the newest books by best selling authors.
There are more patrons coming in with each day they are open. The volunteers are very proud of the library. It's serving the community in a very important way.
The volunteers would like to extend an invitation for all of Logan County to come visit us 155 Front Street, Lewisburg and check out some books and videos.
