Dear Editor: Say goodbye to painting on building

I am renovating the building on Fourth Street with the artwork on the side. The mortar in the brick has deteriorated and is slowly washing away. We are repairing the worst of it now.

However the rest must be covered with a brick filler and painted to preserve the rest of the mortar.

I sincerely apologize to the city, the artist and the children. I did not want to cover this up, as my own daughter helped paint it.

My first priority must be to protect and preserve the building itself. This will not be taking place for a couple of weeks, if anyone wants to stop by for pictures.

Once again, I am very sorry. Thank you.
