The Logan County Cougars' tough season ended Monday with a 70-26 loss to the two-time defending District 13 champions.

Franklin-Simpson, the top seed in the tournament at Jim Young Fieldhouse, scored the first 13 points of the game and never allowed Logan County a chance to get in contention.

The Wildcats used a 28-2 run that spanned the first and second quarters to take a commanding 48-11 lead at halftime that all but wrapped up the victory.

Logan County shot just 28 percent, making just 10-of-36 field goals while going 2-for-9 from long range.

Franklin-Simpson, on the other hand, shot 55 percent and had assists on 26 of the team's 29 baskets.

Only four players scored for Logan. Senior Nick Whittington led Logan County with nine points. Cobey Adler finished with seven, Mitchell Moore added six and eighth-grader Twin Lancaster contributed four points.

Courtney Dalcourt paced Franklin-Simpson with 14 points. Cedrick Adams had 12 while Arndre Gooch and Rayco Bryant scored 10 points apiece.

Logan County ends the season with a 2-25 record after losing its last 14 ballgames.

With the win, Franklin-Simpson will advance to next week's Fourth Region Tournament. The Wildcats (23-6) play tournament host Russellville tonight for the District 13 championship.
