The Auburn Middle School girls' basketball team outscored Olmstead 18-0 in the opening period and went on to win the Logan County championship 46-11 on Monday night.
The Lady Tigers went 5-for-8 from the field in the first quarter and held Olmstead to 0-for-4 shooting.
Auburn standout Jaylin Jones, who finished with a game-high 19 points, scored seven in the first quarter,
She hit a 3-pointer less than a minute into the game to open the scoring and also added a layup and a short jumper in the period.
Jazzy Elliott banked in a 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in the period to make the score 16-0 and Kara Lyons closed the period with a pair of free throws.
The two teams were even in the second quarter, scoring four points apiece. Jones recorded both baskets for Auburn.
The Lady Rams finally got on the scoreboard at the 3:56 mark of the second when Kelsey Blick scored on a putback following an offensive rebound.
Olmstead's other field goal of the quarter also came thanks to an offensive rebound - this time by Elizabeth Motsinger with 1:12 left before halftime.
Auburn extended its lead even more in the third quarter, opening the second half with a 6-0 run and finishing the period on an 8-0 spurt.
A field goal from Jones with just six seconds left gave the Lady Tigers a 38-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Auburn scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to go up 44-8 and held Olmstead without a field goal in the period.
The Lady Tigers won the game thanks in large part to forcing olmstead into 29 turnovers, while only committing 15.
In the pivotal first quarter, Auburn forced eight turnovers while giving up just two.
One area where the two teams were even was rebounding - both squads wound up with 22 boards.
Olmstead did a good job getting offensive rebounds. Nine of the Lady Rams' 22 rebounds came on offense.
In addition to Jones' 19 points, Lyons added eight and Elliott scored seven.
Blick paced Olmstead with six points.
