The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary on Thursday, Dec. 20, of a home on Schley Road in Logan County.
The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. while the residents were away from home. The back door was forced open for a point of entry and several firearms were taken along with some jewelry.
This burglary is believed to be connected to other area burglaries in which suspects are committing “smash and grab” types of crimes. The suspects are not thought to be targeting any one area or homes, nor are they thought to be trying to confront the homes’ occupants. They make entry, take items quickly and leave the area quickly in unknown vehicles.

Collision with injuries
A 2000 Chevy pickup truck driven by Daniel Thomas O’Neal of Lewisburg was traveling west on Proctor Mill Road and approached the intersection of Duncan Chapel Road on Tuesday, Dec. 25.
O’Neal was not familiar with the roadway and at the intersection steered to his left and caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree. Both O’Neal and his passenger, Courtney D. Meacham of Russellville, were transported by private vehicle to the hospital. O’Neal was treated and released from Logan Memorial Hospital for his injuries and Meacham was treated and released from the Medical Center for her injuries.
The collision is being investigated by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.
Injury accident
A 1997 Plymouth Breeze four-door, operated by Lisa Taylor of Bowling Green was traveling east on Bowling Green Road when a deer ran onto the highway in front of the vehicle on Tuesday, Dec. 25.
The deer impacted the vehicle’s front and went into the center of the windshield. All three of the car’s occupants - Lisa Taylor, Rita Taylor and Kenneth Sweatt - sustained minor injuries and went to Logan Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The incident was investigated by Deputy Shackleford.
