Second place honors went to Union County Farm Bureau, and Scott, Allen and Barren counties tied for third.
Logan County, with 3,236 members and a variety of effective public relations programs, was presented with a plaque and cash award during an awards breakfast at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Louisville.
John Alcott, chairperson of the Logan County Farm Bureau information committee, accepted the award.
The awards are presented annually to recognize member information and media relations activities performed by top local Farm Bureaus.
“Logan County had an exceptional entry,” said KFB Public Relations Director Terri Bradshaw. “John and his committee have worked extremely hard this year to get their message to the community.”
In other presentations, Gold Star Awards were given to the following county Farm Bureaus for their accomplishments in media relations and member information: Calloway, Daviess, Garrard, Lincoln, Madison, Magoffin, Marion, Jackson, Mercer, Nelson and Pulaski.
With more than 462,000 member families statewide, Kentucky Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization. More than 1,500 members attended the 88th annual meeting to recognize this year’s achievements and adopt policy for 2008.
