Gilbert explained that the city had once again received the best type of report they could get for their audit.
“As far as financial statistics go, the city of Adairville is very strong in terms of assets and profits,” Gilbert said.
Although the audit did note that the city does not have good internal control, Gilbert said that is common in cities the size of Adairville simply because they have very small staff.
“We believe everything is fine,” he added.
In other news, the council heard the first reading of two ordinances. One pertained to occupational license fees and taxes and changed the rate for a business license in Adairville from $10 a year to $15 a year. The other ordinance prohibits sexually oriented businesses from locating in the city. The council will hear second reading of these ordinances at the next council meeting.
Council member Marla Sircy discussed the city's efforts to get its name out to the public through Connect Kentucky, an effort to use technology and the Internet to promote and improve Kentucky. Sircy said the information had been submitted and Adairville will be the first city within the county to be listed on the web site.
Mayor Jim Wilkerson said he supported these and other efforts designed to get information about Logan County and Adairville on the Internet and easily accessible to businesses and families interested in locating here.
