After the city was unable to secure a grant to help with the park, a representative from Auburn Baptist Church said at the meeting that the church would be willing to make a donation to help get the skate park project off the ground.
Currently, children are riding their skateboards on and around the streets in Auburn - as well as on the Auburn Baptist Church steps.
“We still need a skate park really bad,” city clerk Becka LaGrone said. “We want to get an area for the kids to skateboard that will keep them safely away from traffic.”
In other news, the city council decided to hold trick-or-treating on Halloween rather than moving it to Tuesday, Oct. 30 so as not to interfere with Wednesday church services on the 31st.
“We talked about moving it to the 30th, but the tourism commission had already scheduled their trick-or-treating for Wednesday,” LaGrone said.
Trick-or-treating in the city will take place from 5 till 7 p.m. citywide.
The tourism commission will also be holding a trick-or-treat event that evening at Sugar Maple Plaza from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
