When Wild Country opened in Auburn in April, they offered a few food items. Starting today, the country-western venue will be a full-service restaurant as well.

Debbie Burris, who owns and operates Wild Country with her husband Dennis, said Dennis had been wanting to start a restaurant and so they are.

The establishment will now be called Wild Country & BBQ, and the restaurant portion will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

On Friday and Saturday they will feature ribeye steak specials along with a salad bar and a potato bar. Throughout the week, they will serve various forms of barbecue, including pork shoulder, pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. They will also offer appetizers and various side items.

In addition to the expanded food offerings, Wild Country will continue to showcase live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday evenings. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and up, $3 for ages 6-11, and children 5 and under are free. Dennis Burris' band Country Wildfire plays each weekend and there are dance shows featuring various line and country-western dances.

Wild Country, which is located in what was the Fountain Square Antique building, has a room for eating, a room with the stage and dance floor, and a game room which contains video games, pool and other games.

“It's a real family atmosphere,” Debbie said.

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Debbie offers dance lessons, which she said have a loyal following of participants.

The Burrises also rent out the dance hall room for special occasions such as weddings, parties and other events.

Debbie said they are looking forward to serving the community as a restaurant and are continuing to plan special events for the community. The next event is a Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. There will be the usual Saturday night music and dancing and a costume contest as well.

“It will be fun for the whole family,” Debbie said.
