As a result the Logan County Lady Cougars swept homestanding Russellville 25-17, 25-13 in a district volleyball clash.
The closest Russellville could get in the first game was 5-5 and 9-8. They had stayed close on some clutch shots by Ashley Elliott, Paulecia Smith and Destiny Duncan.
Two straight kills by Logan's Jessie Cole and a Jamie Wilkins serve that wasn't returned made it 12-8.
With Cole serving an ace and an unreturned serve plus Brooke Kelley's block, Logan went up 17-10.
Russellville's Jane Higgins fired an angle kill to stop the run at 19-13.
Logan's 21st and 22nd points came on kills by Wilkins assisted by Grayson, and the 24th and 25th points resulted from Cole kills.
Russellville was much more competitive to start the second game. The Lady Panthers went ahead 5-4 on Elizabeth Corbin's kill. Then with Corbin serving, RHS took a 7-6 lead. The Lady Panthers led at 9-8 on Christina Burysek's serve.
Kelley put Logan up 11-9, but the Lady Panthers took a lead at 12-11 with Smith serving and Higgins getting the kill. They also led 13-12.
Then with the score tied 13-13, Grayson took control of the service. And control it she did. No one else served the rest of the night.
Ten of her 12 serves weren't returned. Six of them were aces. Four of the final five points found Grayson's line-drive serves fouling off Lady Panther receivers directly to their right and out of bounds
Also playing well in the win were Nikki Piper, Devin Brown, Brittany Roark and Lora Miller.
The win improved Coach Tina Lynch's team to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the district. RHS fell to 4-8, 0-3.
