Mr. Wilkins was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Logan County to the late Douglas Laurin Wilkins Sr. and the late Alma Roberson Wilkins. He was a World War II Veteran, farmer, director with Pennyrile Rural Electric, a member of the Lions Club and a 70-year member of Southern Heights Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 27 at Southern Heights Baptist Church with Bro. Darrell Hartley, Bro. Chris Short, Bro. Carl Freudenthal, Bro. Jerald Smith, Bro. Wilbur Powell and Bro. David Hale officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Allen Chiles, Bill Davis, Bobby Huffines, Gerald Kelly, Jim Thompson, Pete Peters, Wallace Shanklin, David Tharpe, Jerry Wilkins, and Ken Barrett.
Honorary pallbearers were the board of directors for Pennyrile Rural Electric, their attorney and Joe Grace.
Mr. Wilkins is survived by his wife, Lois Wilkins of Russellville; his sons, Randy Wilkins of Atlanta and Steve Wilkins of Russellville; his daughter, Donna Houston of Franklin; his brother, Tom Wilkins of Atlanta; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family asks that donations be made to Southern Heights Baptist Church.
