The process is at the midpoint of selecting a fifth new principal for local schools.
Logan County School Superintendent Marshall Kemp Thursday presented the Adairville School Based Decision Making Council names of 15 people who have applied to be principal of Adairville Elementary School.
Principal Chris Allen resigned to become assistant principal of Muhlenberg South High School in his home county.
Kemp said the application period for the position at Adairville- which is one of five K-8 schools in the system- is still open, and he may have more names to present to the SBDM later.
“I doubt if they will want to interview all 15, but they have several from which to choose,” Kemp said.
Former Auburn Principal Mike Hurt, who has a number of responsibilities in the central office, is acting as interim principal at Adairville.
“We need him here, but he will do a good job at Adairville until they make their selection,” Kemp said.
This makes five of the nine schools in the county which will have a new principal this year.
The other one in the county system is Elisa Beth Brown, who has succeeded the retired Barry Silvey at Chandlers Elementary.
All three Russellville schools have new principals- Claudia Crump at Stevenson Elementary, Alan Marksberry at Russellville Middle and Rick Larson at RHS.
Three of the four new principals (excluding Larson) have either taught in the Logan system or been a student there.
Meanwhile Principal Barrett Nelson of Lewisburg is interviewing candidates to be his assistant principal. Lee Freeman has resigned from that post to become principal of Greenville Elementary School in his hometown.
