Middle school basketball, cheerleading competition underway

The Logan County Middle School Basketball Tournament- always a highlight of the basketball season- is underway at Logan County High School.

Thursday night, the number four seeds played for the right to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

In the girls game, Lewisburg faced Adairville. The boys found Lewisburg and Olmstead squaring off.

Saturday at 1 p.m. the top-seeded Auburn girls will play the Lewisburg-Adairville winner.

At 2:30, Auburn, which is also top-seeded and the defending boys champion, will meet the Lewisburg-Olmstead survivor.

Saturday night, the number two and three seeds will play.

The girls game finds multi-time defending champion Chandlers going against Olmstead at 6:30.

The boys game at 8 p.m. finds Chandlers and Adairville facing each other.

The championship games will be Monday at LCHS with the girls finals at 6:30 p.m. and the boys at 8.

The Auburn girls and Olmstead boys were runners-up in 2005.

The county middle school cheerleaders will also be in competition Saturday at Adairville, beginning at 11 a.m.
