Cooper's Corner: Robin shows our prayers are answered

If you think God doesn't hear the smallest prayer, then think again. You may not always get what you prayed for, but you will get an answer one way or another. You just have to stop and pay attention sometimes to hear the response.

I saw this first hand Tuesday morning as I picked up yet another injured bird, this time a robin out in the middle of Main Street Auburn. This tiny creature was just sitting in the middle of the street where it had obviously been hit just moments before.

I am not writing about this deed to glorify myself in any way, fashion or form. In fact I would like to think anyone would help one of God's creatures if they found it in need. I am, however, writing this to glorify God, and to show those who don't believe that He is there and ready to help when called upon that He is. All you have to do is just ask and mean it, but realize that the answer may not come right away and it may not be what you are wanting.

Now I would be writing this if the Robin had died instead of lived, because either way God would have answered my prayer for the little fellow. I didn't want it to suffer and I would have liked for it to live, but that I left up to God and He chose which one.

I know those skeptics out there are saying how can you tell that God answered your prayer if it were to either live or die because one or the other would most definitely happen. I know this because I felt it and because I truly believe that God listened to what I asked of him in the car that morning while hanging on to a scared and bleeding creature whose one eye was matted shut and whose breast was stripped of its feathers.

I asked Jesus to stop its pain or to make it better. Either way I would be content with the outcome. By lunch time the bird was flying from the box I had placed it in. Its eye was all better, it had stopped twitching its head from what I had believed was some type of brain damage, and it was desperately trying to escape and return to its environment.

I took the bird and let it go in Auburn where I had found it. Some of my work buddies thought I should have let it go in Russellville when it showed signs of being better. I wanted to return it to its home where I believed it had a nest and who knows whom waiting for it. I know that sounds silly to some, but it was natural for me. Everything has a home and loves to be there more than anywhere else.

I want to share this experience to show that all of God's creatures are important to Him. He created them and us for His enjoyment and He made us stewards over them to take care of. From the largest to the smallest, God responds to us all, if we just ask with our hearts.
