Gospel singing at Auburn Park

An outdoor gospel singing will be held at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Auburn Park. It will feature old-fashioned, acappella, family style singing by several different families. There will also be a short message given by Brother Larry Baer. The event is sponsored by Franklin Mennonite Church. For more information call 542-7304 or 542-6283.

Middle school dance

Russellville Parks & Rec and the Optimist Club will sponsor a middle school dance from 7-10 p.m. at the Sportsman Club. The fee is $3 for each student, who must be enrolled in either the Russellville or Logan County school system and be in the fifth-eighth grade to attend the dance. Parents must come inside the building to pick up students when they are leaving.

Plainview Fish Fry

The Plainview Community Fish Fry will be today at 5 p.m. Fish, fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw will be furnished by the church. The rest is potluck.

GOP Men's Breakfast

Southern Kentucky Past Finders

The Southern Kentucky Past Finders will have its annual cookout at 4:30 p.m. at David Trusty's house at the end of Pillow Cemetery Road off of the Stevenson Mill Road. Fish fry for LRFD

A fish fry for the Lewisburg Rural Fire Department will be sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America District Representative Donald Bib at Lewisburg School, starting at 5 p.m. Modern Woodmen will match up to $500 in proceeds. Methodist Homecoming

O'Roark Methodist Church will have its homecoming today. Preaching starts at 10 a.m., potluck lunch at noon, and gospel singing at 1:30 p.m. by the "Wings of Faith." Free dumpster in R'ville

The city of Russellville will have a free dumpster beginning today until Friday, Sept. 30. It will be located at 600 Hopkinsville Street at the city street department from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Proof of residency within the city will be required. Anyone with questions can call the mayor's office at 726-5000.

First General Revival

The Auburn Historical Society Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Bobbie Peters, 389 Elwood Drive. She will be hostess of a brunch for the members. Eloise Hadden will lead a discussion of Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.

Advisory Council meeting

The Adairville/Lewisburg FRYSCO Advisory Council meeting will be at 4 p.m. at the Logan County Board of Education Office.

Cemetery mini-tour

Enjoy a mini-tour of Gov. John Breathitt Cemetery in preparation for the Oct. 1 Heritage Day. Meet at the Logan County Archives (weather permitting) at 10 a.m. any Tuesday in September, and genealogical society members will take small groups to the cemetery for short explanations of the families buried there. On the 1st, characters will be represented by actors in 1830s dress and a short program will be presented. For info call Judy Lyne, 726-3837.

R'ville Band Booster meeting

The Russellville Band Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. tonight at the Russellville High School Band Room. The band show will be discussed. All parents are urged to attend.

EDC in Auburn

The Logan County Economic Development Commission (EDC) will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 a.m., at Auburn City Hall. The EDC's meetings are open to the public. Luau at Lewisburg School

The Lewisburg PTO's annual Family Fun Night will be held tonight from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be Bouncin B's Inflatables (8 from which to choose). There will also be tropical carnival booths such as Limbo, Hula Hoop, Tiki Putt Putt Golf, coconut bowling, cake walk, rock climbing wall, and raffles. There will be a Tiki Hut for concessions. This is a community event for all ages.
