Yes, he is probably the greatest athlete of RHS history, especially football and I can still see him in Lexington the year we went to state with an undefeated season and barely lost. We were crying outside when they brought the "boys" out to load on the bus and Gary was crying, too. He wanted to win at state, since RHS had had an undefeated season and I felt like he had it all on his shoulders in a sense.
I kept saying, "Somebody help Gary, somebody help Gary.!" because he was so upset and heartbroken.
What a wonderful man he has become and that is only one of many memories I can share with Russellvillians from the 60s about Gary Todd.
Of course, I would love to help in getting this hall of fame started as my brother, the former mayor, Ken Smith, was captain of the Panthers in the 50s and would be one of the people I would nominate. He was quite an athlete at RHS, and graduated in 1957.
So keep up the work and let this former alumnus of the, Class of '67 know what I can do to help.
