RPD drug arrests

On Dec. 28, Officer Robbie Matthews of the Russellville Police Department conducted a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. at Scott market on E. 4th Street in Russellville. The driver, 20 year old Jeremy Viers of Auburn, was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Sgt. Steve Hadden and Officers Todd Raymer and Michael Canon assisted in the stop, along with K-9 Deputy Tracy White of the Logan Co. Sheriff's Department. With assistance from Ajax, the Sheriff Department's K-9, officers seized a quantity of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Jeremy Viers was lodged in the Logan Co. Detention Center and charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended operator's license, trafficking controlled substance, 1st degree (cocaine), possession of controlled substance, 1st degree (cocaine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Matthews also obtained and served three outstanding warrants for Jeremy Viers from Barren Co. for trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree (cocaine).

On Dec. 27, 2004 the Russellville Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the Handi Food Mart parking lot off of Franklin Street. The police stopped a green 1997 GMC belonging to George O. Herrera Jr. of Hopkinsville Road. Herrera was later placed under arrest for trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 yards of a school and for drug paraphernalia, 1st offense. Upon further investigation, another felony charge was also placed on Herrera after discovering he had stolen property valued over $300 in his possession. The investigating officers were Ed Higgins and Christ Drumright.
