Editor's Note: We had planned to editorialize about the tremendous effort given by Logan Countians in the recent tragic drowning deaths of two of our own. Lisa Harkleroad, whose husband Rodney was a leader of the effort, has expressed her feelings so well, however, that we're letting her speak for all of us.
I am proud to be a Logan Countian.
The outstanding efforts of the men and women of Logan County during the search and recovery of Brandon and John Spicer will forever rest in my heart.
These 'volunteers' took time off from work and spent days away from their families to make sure that Brandon and John's families would finally have peace. I have never seen such an outpouring of good, kind, loving people in my whole life.
I am proud to know these people and am honored to call them friends.
There are too many people to even begin to mention names, but you know who you are.
The efforts of those from surrounding counties are to be honored as well.
Having spent most of my week on that bank of Mud River, I know what the recovery meant personally to each and every person. I know that the sadness in our hearts will take time to heal, but we can be proud of everyone who worked so diligently to see that the job was completed. I will never forget the unity of those who didn't know one another on Sunday but became family by Friday.
The heart and soul of Logan County stood on that bridge daily.
Logan County residents should feel honored knowing that there are so many people willing to give up so much to help others in need.
I am proud to be a Logan Countian and you should thank your lucky stars that there are volunteers out there to make you proud of your fellow Logan Countians as well.
