Western Kentucky University recognized its top volunteers, alumni chapters and alumni during Homecoming week at the sixth annual Summit Awards.

Distinguished Service Medals to recognize the service of the University's top three volunteers were presented to Donna Harmon, Suzanne Vitale and Finley Woodard, all of Bowling Green.

Woodard is the former Finley Baird, who was in the first graduating class at Logan County High School after having attended Auburn High School. A former basketball player at WKU who now works for the university, she is married to Adairville native Glenn Woodard.

She was also recognized for her service on the Society of African American Alumni Executive Committee.

Among others honored was Logan Aluminum Manager of Human Resources Howard Leach for his service on the Management Advisory Board.

As previously announced, General Jerry Humble of Russellville was one of the three persons named to Hall of Distinguished Alumni. He was the only living person so honored.

Brad Watson of Nashville, who like Humble is a former Russellville High School and WKU football player, is president of the National Alumni Association and was involved in a number of Homecoming activities.
