have some funds available for cost-share for shade cloth. Applications for shade cloth are still being accepted at the Logan County Cooperative Extension Office through May 21.
Each household or family unit will be allowed 50:50
cost-share for up to $1,000 for rolls of shade cloth. An applicant can spend $2,000 and receive $1,000 cost-share funds.
A roll of shade cloth costs approximately $500 and one
roll covers 9 wagons. Shade cloth is draped over tobacco wagons to prevent sunburn, thus increasing quality and profit.
It is more convenient than moving wagons under shade trees
and improves handling of tobacco. The cloth can also be used to provide shade for livestock and poultry, fruit p.m., at the Logan County Extension Office on the
corner of 4th Street and South Spring Street. Jams, jellies,
fresh cut flowers, bedding plants, and cool season vegetables,
such as asparagus, are available. The Garden Market will be
open on Tuesday and Saturday beginning in May, 2004.
