I myself am an LIT (Leader In Training) at the Logan County Public Library. I am 13 years old.
I know for a fact that if a damaged book enters the library, with the librarians' knowledge of it, that it is not brought back to the shelf. Actually, it was just last Monday when I myself found a book with a page torn out and knew that it was now my responsibility to tell a librarian, and so I did. She took the book off the shelf and into the back office.
I understand the writer stating that she took has seen a book in the library that was damaged before, but it's not the librarian's responsibility to look at every single book to see if it may or may not be damaged. The responsibility goes to the person who is aware that it's damaged.
I'm at the library more than once a week. On Mondays I'm there with my Literature class, and on Fridays I'm there with the other LIT's helping Miss Monica Edwards with the Story Hour program. We read, do crafts and play games with children.
Most of the time, unless I'm really busy, I'm there more often. The library has gotten to be one of my favorite places. I'm thankful for the fact that we have the freedom to have a place like the library, and I love and respect the librarians that help us all.
So to every single employee at the Logan County Public Library, thank you.
