RHS v'ball sweeps Christian

Monday, Sept. 8 Christian County volleyball visited the RHS Gym. JV and Varsity teams sent CCHS back to their locker room in two games each.

The first JV game Terricka Quarles served 7 aces in a row to put RHS ahead 13-4. Netta Dandridge followed with 4 serves to get the score to 20-7 RHS. Shonay Dandridge served 2 and Darshan Dickerson served the winning point to finish at 25-10.

Game Two: Subs Ashley Elliott, Ashley Barker, Shonice Dandridge and Griselda Vargas saw playing time.

Stats for the match: Quarles totaled 8 passes, 3 assists, 6 sets, 1 kill and 6 attacks in addition to her 7 ace serves, 2 good serves.

Anja Shelton had 2 serves, 7 passes, 2 kills and 7 attacks. Shonay Dandridge gave 6 serves, 7 passes, 3 assists, 20 sets, and 3 attacks. Dickerson had 3 serves with an ace, 18 passes, 6 sets, 3 kills, 5 attacks and the only block of the match.

Amber Higgins had 7 good serves and 1 ace, 2 passes, 1 set and 1 attack. Demetria Miles added 5 serves, 1 kill and 4 attacks. Netta Dandridge had 4 serves, 1 attack. Elliott gave the team a good serve and Barker made 4 good serves.

Final Score: 25-16, 25-10 RHS.

Assistant Coach Kathy Thweatt says, "Varsity played with more intensity and aggression than we have been seeing from them. They came out hitting hard and playing well. I think the extra competition, (the transfer player) against Logan this year, and a good rest brought their playing to a higher level. "

Stats: Sara Thompson had 3 aces and 2 good serves, 14 passes, 1 set, 6 kills, 6 attacks and 1 block. Von Sydnor had 2 aces and 3 good serves, 14 passes, and led with 7 kills and 12 attacks.

Joanna Bailey had 2 aces, 6 good serves, 1 kill and 1 attack. Victoria Dickerson had 8 good serves, 6 passes, 17 assists, 29 sets, 2 attacks and 1 block. Brittany Noe had 4 good serves, 11 passes, 2 sets, 1 kill and 10 attacks.

Andrea Holland led the serves with 9 good ones and also gave 3 aces, led passing with 17 and set 3 balls, had 3 kills and 11 attacks. Quarles had 2 passes and 4 sets. Final Score: 25-21, 25-14 RHS.
