Both the Lewisburg Lady Rangers volleyball teams won their games Monday night against Adairville.

The B Team continued its winning ways, defeating Adairville 25-20 in the first game. Lauren Lehman served three aces and Emily Wilson one.

Lewisburg won the second junior varsity game in convincing fashion 25-9. Leslie White had what Coach Ben Schell calls "an incredible serving effort" with seven aces while Wilson had four.

Also playing well for the undefeated Lewisburg B Team were Lyndi Adler, Lorraine Vaughan, Sarah Beth Moore, Sylvia Inscoe, Stacy Zackery and Sara Jones.

In the varsity game, the Lady Rangers bounced back from their first loss ever in their previous outing at Auburn to defeat Adairville.

The Lady Cardinals proved to be a formidable foe in both games, which ended 25-17.

In the first game, Jessica Cole showed her serving expertise, knocking in four aces. Nikki Piper served two aces to help with the victory.

In game two, Cole led the way again with two aces. Jamie Wilkins nailed down a kill and assisted Cole with another.

Aiding in the Lewisburg Lady Rangers' first win of the season were Whitley Thompson, Courtney Gibbs, Courtney Gibbs, Tabitha Simmons and Lehman.

The Lady Rangers have performed well in both matches this season despite losing Laura Williams in the preseason to a broken ankle.

n The Lady Rangers continued their winning ways Tuesday at Olmstead.

One reason the B Team remained undefeated is the serving of Leslie White, Adler and Moore.

"Setters Emily Wilson and Sarah Beth Moore played extremely well and were backed up by the superb passing of Lorraine Vaughan, Sylvia Inscoe and Sarah Jones," Coach Ben Schell said.

The B Team won the second game 29-27 in a nail-biter. The score was back and forth for much of the game until the Lady Rangers narrowly pulled way at the end.

White served well, including stroking a pair of aces, and she had two big digs on defense.

The Lady Rangers A team won in convincing fashion 25-12 and 25-18.

In the first game, Thompson perfectly placed 4 aces, and Piper and Richardson added an ace each. Wilkins spiked down 2 kills in addition to her quality setting.

Game two was much closer, but serving carried the Rangers. Piper served 4 aces, and Cole and Wilkins 1 each.

Moore and Wilson came up from the B Team to set for the first time on varsity, and Schell says both are extremely well.

"The Lady Rangers continue to improve and look poised to repeat as county champions," he says.

Lewisburg next plays at Chandlers Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
