The Bowling Green Downtown Redevelopment Authority has announced a special addition to this year's Concerts in the Park series.

On Wednesday, July 2 the Downtown Redevelopment Authority and the city of Bowling Green will present Patriot Day, a celebration in honor of our country, our veterans, and the men and women who are proudly serving our country today, The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. and will be held in downtown's Historic Fountain Square Park.

Kicking off the celebration will be the Parade of Heroes that will immediately followed by flag raising ceremony.

R & B artist and Russellville native Athena Cage will be on hand to perform selected patriotic songs with the local chapter of the Girl Scouts of America.

The event will be hosted by members of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and speeches will be given by Warren County Judge/Executive Mike Buchanon, and Bowling Green Mayor Sandy Jones.

Cootie Brown will take the stage following the last speech, and perform some classic America Rock 'n Roll. Broadway the Clown and Uncle Sam will also be in the park helping to celebrate this special day.

The Downtown Merchants Association, the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, and Operation Pride will also sponsor the first ever "Downtown Spirit Award." All downtown merchants and businesses will be asked to show their community support by decorating their buildings with patriotic decorations.

The "Downtown Spirit Award" will then be presented by Operation Pride and a panel of judges to the downtown business with the best patriot decorations.

So put on your red, white, and blue and come help the DRA celebrate Patriot Day.
