The award was given to Cayce Mill Supply Company by the Better Business Bureau for business ethics, according to owner Brett Cayce.
The honor was for medium-sized businesses consisting of companies employing 50-100 employees.
This is the third year the BBB has given this award. The award is sought after by companies in middle Tennessee, and western Kentucky.
"It's a great honor to be given this award," Cayce said. "We're an 83-year-old company with people who have been here for 65 years or more. To me, that signifies the people working for us."
The business was founded in 1919 in Hopkinsville, where the main branch is located. It expanded here in August 2001 when Cayce Mill acquired Logan Wholesale on Highland Lick Road.
Companies are nominated for the Torch Award by customers or by someone in the community, according to Cayce.
The nominated company then answers five questions that are then sent in to a committee of judges from various businesses who select the winners.
"It's nice to be recognized for what we do and how we treat people," Cayce said.
Cayce Mill Supply company will now go on to compete in a national competition, he said.
