Accidents cause injuries

An accident Tuesday morning sent a husband and wife to Logan Memorial Hospital after their vehicle began to hydroplane on Clarksville Road.

According to the Logan County Sheriff's Department, Charles H. Turner, 63, and his wife, Nova Turner, 65, of Lewisburg Road were southbound when the pickup Turner was driving began to hydroplane while attempting to pass another vehicle.

The truck then left the roadway striking a fence before coming to rest against a tree.

Nova Turner was ejected from the passenger side window, causing injury to her shoulder. Turner sustained lacerations to his face.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's department, the Medical Center EMS and the Olmstead Rural Fire Dept.

n A Russellville man was injured Oct. 29 after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Hopkinsville Road.

According to city police reports, John Claxton, 84, Crittenden Drive, pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer owned by Hudson Ag and driven by Jeffery Kitchens, 33, Morgantown.

Kitchens was traveling in the east-bound lane of Hopkinsville Road when the accident occured, according to reports.

Kitchens struck Claxton's vehicle, causing the vehicle to travel off of the roadway and come to rest on top of an Atmos Energy natural gas meter. Claxton suffered minor injuries and was transferred to Logan Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.

Kitchens suffered no injuries.

Atmos Energy reported no damages to the gas line, according to police reports.

n An accident in the parking lot of the Lewisburg IGA Nov. 4, sent one to Logan Memorial, according to a report issued by the Logan County Sheriff's Department.

The two vehicle collision occured around 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to the report.

Dorothy Mefford, 49, Greenville, was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released for a possible neck injury.

The other parties involved, Amanda Mefford, 25, Greenville, and Billy D. Stevens, 44, Robards were not injured.
