A Logan County law enforcement officer has been honored for his efforts in preventing a suicide.

At the last meeting of Logan Fiscal Court, Captain Wallace Whittaker of the sheriff's department was presented a document signed by Gov. Paul Patton, commending him for his "bravery and quick thinking" in helping avoid the Lewisburg incident.

The plaque was obtained and presented by Whittaker's pastor, Second Baptist's Ron Wells, a former state policeman.
