Derrick Stratton, a senior at RHS, has been awarded the Scholar Athlete Award to play soccer at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn.

A four-year letterman for the RHS soccer Panthers, he signed last week and was selected to the seventh district all-tournament team this past season.

He was also awarded the best defensive player on the team by the RHS coaching staff. He is the son of Mark and Connie Stratton of Russellville.

"Derrick Stratton has been an extremely valuable member of the Russellville soccer team for four years. He is an exceptional athlete who is very versatile. During his four years, he has played most every position, depending on what the team needed. Derrick has good speed, super foot skills and field awareness. He is dedicated, hard-working and intelligent. He is the type of scholar-athlete any school would like to have," says Coach Tom Thompson.
