"The court has passed a resolution authorizing the sheriff to remove people whose actions or words are considered abusive, but no action was initiated in this instance."

This is an interesting final statement. What would be considered abusive-- speaking the truth about corrupt officials?

I think it's about time these city councils and other official departments sat down and realized that they aren't above the law, nor are they God.

Most of them, after all, are elected by the people to do a job and should remain accountable to the people. When someone questions a practice they are involved in, they should not have the right to silence that person.

There's such a thing as freedom of speech, and they should be accountable for their actions. Ignorance is not an option. It's their job to know their boundaries and the fact that they will be under the eyes of the media and the public at all times.

I think that is one of the reasons they call it "public office." Ethics should be a part of their lives. Know about ethics if you plan to serve!

Thank you for the article. I live in Gary, Ind. but am from Lewisburg and like to keep up with the news at home.
