The Russellville and Logan County girls will play each other while the boys will be in opposite brackets in the 13th District Tournament.

The boys brackets were determined when the Logan County Cougars lost at Franklin-Simpson Tuesday. The tournament begins at LCHS Monday, Feb. 25.

A draw had to be held in the girls division when the district meeting was held Wednesday evening at LCHS.

Coach David Clark's Lady Cats of Franklin-Simpson edged the Lady Cougars twice by four points each time to finish undefeated in the district.

The other three teams had identical 2-4 records, however, so a three-way tie was held.

Coach Greg Howard's Todd Central team was the loser in that competition, being paired against F-S on opening night.

Russellville and Logan girls will play on Tuesday after Franklin meets Todd on Monday.

In the boys division, top-seeded Todd (5-1 in the district) plays Logan (1-5) on Monday. Second-seeded Russellville (4-2) plays number three Franklin (2-4).

Tournament times are set up with the girls game second on Tuesday. That means the host school, Logan, plays the second game, regardless of seeding.

The pairings are as follows:

GIRLS

Monday, Feb. 25: F-S vs. Todd, 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 26: RHS vs. LCHS, 8

Thursday, Feb. 28: Finals, 7

BOYS

Monday, Feb. 25: Todd vs. LCHS, 8

Tuesday, Feb. 26: RHS vs. F-S, 6:30

Friday, March 1: Finals, 7

The admission price is $5 per person. There was a suggestion to charge $6, but the two local principals got the $5 figure approved.

LCHS Athletic Director Hugh McReynolds is tournament manager with Holli Brown scorekeeper, Bobby Moss timer and Todd Loyd announcer.

The regional tournament will begin the following Monday and Tuesday. A different format is planned this year. District runners-up will go to the home floor of another district's winner.

The four survivors in each division then will go to one central location, Western's Diddle Arena.

One foursome, probably the girls, will play Thursday night, with the others on Friday. Then the two finals will be played Saturday, March 9.
