The Logan County Sheriff's Department received a call that directed them to the business around 11:30 p.m. A citizen who lives near the store and watches the property at night observed the incident and followed the vehicle and perpetrators to provide law enforcement authorities with pertinent information.
Once this citizen reported the incident, officers responded to the store, which is located at the intersection of Bucksville Road and KY 103. They discovered that the glass front door had been shattered, and that there was damage to the back door as well.
According to the owners, nothing was taken from the store, but there was a significant amount of damage to the property.
The vehicle suspected to have been used in the breakin was located in Russellville by officers, and follow-up investigations resulted in the following arrests: Joshua Fuston, 18, of Russellville, for DUI and complicity to burglary in the third degree; Michael Duncan, 18, of Russellville, for burglary in the third degree; and a juvenile for burglary in the third degree.
Fuston and Duncan were both lodged in the Logan County Detention Center, and the juvenile was charged and released to parents.
The incident was investigated by Deputy Joshua Watkins, who was assisted by Sgt. Jonathan Blick, Deputies Stephen Stratton and Larry Christie, all of the Sheriff's Department, Officer Eric Vincent of the Auburn Police Department, and officers from the Russellville Police Department.
The Sheriff's Department wishes to thank the citizen who reported the incident, as well as the one who notified police of the vehicle's location.
The incident is still under investigation by the Logan County Sheriff's Department.
