In the aftermath of the disastrous events of Sept. 11, Americans have responded in many ways to show their patriotism, continuing, to this day, to prove that our country is stronger than any group of terrorists bent on destroying our way of life.
Logan Countians have risen to the challenge and have been donating blood and money to help the disaster victims and those who are toiling for hours on end in the disaster responses.
Many businesses and individuals are still asking for donations or giving a percentage of the profits of a product to the Red Cross. Please support these stores and people as they are helping others in this time of need.
Logan County groups who have helped by donating money include the Logan County High School FCCLA, the Olmstead School and community, and the New Hope General Baptist Church youth group.
Also, dozens of people donated blood when Auburn had one of its great blood drives following the disaster. The chapter apologizes if any donor has not been mentioned.
If you'd like to help, here's how. To inquire about donating blood, call 1800-GIVE-LIFE. The Red Cross is coordinating all of its blood donations through that phone number. If you'd like to donate money, call 1800-HELP-NOW.
The Red Cross will spend months helping others because of these disasters. Remember that the Red Cross receives no tax funding. It relies on the generosity of the American people to exist and help others.

Finally, the Logan County Chapter of the American Red Cross thanks the people of Logan County for their support. As of Sept. 25, it has collected more than $1,800, which is being sent to help following the terrorist attacks. Donations, which may help the local chapter continue to stay open, can be mailed to 219 South Main Street in Russellville.
