Logan County Solid Waste Coordinator Dwight Cockrill says he hasn’t calculated April’s total yet, but weather could have an effect on those numbers due to the amount of rainfall. The winter months, such as January and February, also see lower numbers because of the cold and snow.
You can’t pick up trash on the road when it is pouring down rain or when the snow covers it up.
March’s numbers are broken down over seven roads in the county.
On March 2, road crews picked up 2.5 miles on 79 North (Morgantown Road); on March 3-4, crews picked up 3.8 miles on Concord Road; on March 7, crews hit 1 mile of Armory Drive (beside Sav-A-Lot); on March 16-17, 4.9 miles of the 68-80 Bypass were targeted; on March 21-22 crews picked up 8.7 miles on Veteran’s Memorial (68-80 Bypass) where 104 bags of trash were recovered; on March 25, 28 and 29, crews picked up 14.8 miles on Hwy. 100 (Franklin Road) and a few other roads, with a total of 160 bags of trash, and on March 31, crews picked up 2 miles on Hwy. 96 (Orndorff Mill Road).
