The girls singles results were: From LCHS Mason Gregory finished an impressive freshman campaign with a loss in the first round to Lessenberry from Glasgow 6-0, 6-0. Anna Wilkins finished up her tennis career against Gordon from Monroe County forcing three games but ultimately falling 6-3, 2-6, 5-7. From Russellville Kesi Neblett had a very strong showing, winning her first round match up against Warren East’s Arnold 6-2, 6-1, then advancing to the quarter finals winning a thriller against Barrett from South Warren 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 before falling in the quarterfinals to number one overall seed Pennington from Greenwood 6-0, 6-0.
In the girls doubles LCHS had very high hopes. They had two very good teams just chomping at the bit to make deep runs. But due to unforeseen complications the team of Lindsey Stahl and Laurel Hales had to forfeit.
And in the midst of dominating their match Brenna Brown took a fall that cut the match short. Meg and Brenna Brown would have to forfeit the match due to the accident. Brenna Brown would end up needing surgery after breaking her wrist in two places. We at the newspaper wish her a quick recovery.
With the region tournament over for the tennis teams in Logan County check back soon for my season wrap up on both teams.
