Taxing Districts sets rates, county acknowledges

Three taxing districts presented their 2014 tax rates at the Tuesday, Aug. 26 Logan County Fiscal Court meeting as part of a new requirement bringing them to the largest county meeting to present the rates. Although the Logan County Fiscal Court has no authority on the tax decisions of these districts, they do take task to acknowledge them and if needed, voice opinion.First up was the Logan County Public Library who sent King Simpson, director, to inform magistrates of a recent meeting by the library board of directors on Aug. 18th where it was decided the district would take the compensating rate. This decision will generate an estimated increase of $48,470 in revenues from 2013 to 2014.
