Loy Yates, 88, of Adairville died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Logan Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Logan County Dec. 31, 1921, a son of the late Jesse James Yates and the late Elizabeth Jenette Grayson Yates.

Mr. Yates was a heavy equipment operator with the Logan County Road Department and the Kentucky Highway Department. He was a member of the Spring Valley Baptist Church and attended Keysburg Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Steve Woody officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. There will be a meal for family and friends following the burial at the Keysburg Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 8 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be, Timmy Davenport, Jimmy Davenport, Michael Davenport, Scott Yates, Travis Davenport, Robert Davenport, Jeff Davenport and Steve Davenport.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Yates; his son, Harold Yates and wife Carol of Adairville; his daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Springfield, Tenn., Hazel Dawn Davenport and husband Doug and Lillian McComas and husband Larry, all of Adairville, and 76 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The family asks that donations be made to the Lottie Moon Missions c/o Keysburg Baptist Church.
